Universiti Malaya (UM), established in 1905, is Malaysia’s oldest university, located in Kuala Lumpur. In the QS World University Rankings 2025, UM achieved the 60th position globally. Universiti Malaya (UM) offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various faculties, including Arts and Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Engineering, and Medicine. The primary medium of instruction is English; however, certain programs, particularly those focusing on Malaysian studies or languages, are conducted in Malay or other languages. International students are required to take and pass a basic Malay language course as part of their graduation requirements.

Certificate, A-Level, IB, or equivalent. Alternatively, a recognized diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 is acceptable. Applicants must also meet one of the following English language proficiency requirements, TOEFL: Minimum score of 500 (PBT), 173 (CBT), or 60 (IBT), IELTS: Band 5.0 and above (Academic), MUET: Band 3 and above, PTE Academic: Minimum score of 41, GCE O-Level: Grade C and above in English Language.

Universiti Malaya (UM) offers a vibrant international student community, providing on-campus accommodations such as Residential Colleges, International House, and Japan Apartment. To assist new students in acclimating, UM organizes the Universiti Malaya Week of Welcome (UM-WOW), featuring activities and briefings.
